Hi Families,
There is no homework this week! Homework will start back up next week!
Thanks!
Hi Families,
We had a very good first week back from break! It always is an adjustment after the long vacation! Here is an update on what we have been working on:
Letter of the Week: J
Reviewing Reading Color Words
Theme: WInter and Snow
*We are learning about the winter season and snow. We will be discussing what animals do in the winter as well as winter activities. Today students made snowflakes that turned out beautifully!
*Students are doing an awesome job getting dressed for the outside weather!
*Students have been working in their “Split Lit” groups on individualized literacy skills. They work in these groups every day for 30 minutes.
*Next week will be my last week with the kids.
It has gone so fast! I have LOVED being their teacher! Mrs. Kok is going to come in next Thursday to visit and help with the transition which will be wonderful.
That is all for now! Have a great weekend!
Thank you!
-Miss Brown
Hello Everyone,
I am excited to let you know that I will be coming back to school on January 17. The Thursday before I come back I will be visiting the classroom to see the children and to meet with Ms. Brown. Ms. Brown has told me that she is really proud of the progress the children have made. I can’t wait to see it for myself! I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas.
Mrs. Kok
Hi Families,
I just wanted to share our new cute bulletin board! The students did such a great job decorating their gingerbread people!
Also, tonight I sent home a “G” book with your child. We did not get to it this week, but if you have a few extra minutes this weekend, it would be great reinforcement for your child. Have him or her circle all of the g’s in the book, color and practice reading it.
Have a great weekend! Remember our holiday party is next Tuesday at 10:30.
Thanks,
Hi Families!
Here are a few reminders/ updates/ and upcoming events!
First and foremost what a wonderful Christmas program! The kids did such a good job! They also happened to all look adorable!
As the cold weather is definitely now upon us please continue to send plenty of cold weather clothes with your child to school. It gets especially windy on our playground! Also it is extremely helpful to have everything labeled!
Our class Christmas party will be next Tuesday, December 13th at 10:30. All are welcome to attend!
If anyone has extra bubble wrap or tissue paper that you would be willing to donate to the class, that would be wonderful. Students will be bringing something home next week that is breakable and we will try to take every measure possible to make sure that it comes home in one piece! If you have any you are willing to donate, please just send it in with your child by next Tuesday…thank you!
Show and tell is this Friday. Because our schedule got a little out of sorts…any student can bring in a show and tell this Friday. We will get back to the normal split schedule after the holiday break!
A Look at What We Have Been Working On….
Letter of the week: Last week- q– this week g.
Shape–Diamond
*This week we are beginning number writing practice. We will be learning correct formation–always starting at the top!
*We have been reading holiday stories and completing projects that tie in to the story’s theme. We are continuing to practice good work skills such as cutting on the lines, taking our time with our work, staying in the lines while coloring and trying our best!
*We are working on being “bucket fillers.” This concept comes from a book titled, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud. The essence of the book is a concept that we all have imaginary buckets that we carry around. When people do nice things for others, and are helpful and kind, they fill other people’s buckets as well as their own. We feel good when our buckets are full and when others’ buckets are full! When someone is not kind or helpful he/she not only dips into that person’s bucket, but their own as well. If your child has been talking about filling a “bucket” or someone dipping into his/her “bucket” this is what they are referring to. It is a great concept and one that they really seem to comprehend! Ask them ways to be a bucket filler!
This is a busy but wonderful time of year! The kids are so excited about all of the holiday traditions you are doing in your homes! They have been talking A LOT about them!
Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Families!
Here is an update on what we have up to in Pre-K!
Letter of the Week: O
Shape(s): Oval and diamond
Color: Brown
*We have finished up our Fall Unit where students explored leaves, weather, and the changes that occur during this beautiful time of year! We are now in the midst of talking about Thanksgiving and turkeys! We are looking forward to our “feast” tomorrow with the kindergarten classes. We have made a special gift to give to them. (We are also excited that they also made gifts for us!) We will sing songs, eat popcorn, and talk about the first Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for. We made turkey hats that are adorable and students will go home with them tomorrow! (They would be a great addition to your Thanksgiving gathering…guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face!)
With only one day this week, we are reviewing the letter O and the shapes and colors we have learned about so far. When we get back from Thanksgiving break we will be busy with preparing for our Holiday performance on the first of December!
Lastly, as the cold weather is here, we will be working on the proper steps for getting ready to go outside. I have attached a sheet that I will be using with the kids that you are welcome to print off to go over with your child at home. It is a nice visual reminder as sometimes students put their gloves on first and then wonder why they can’t get their boots on, jackets zipped etc! Continued practice with tying and zipping is always helpful as well!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am thankful for so many things including this opportunity to work with your child! They never cease to amaze me and warm my heart!
Hi Families!
Show and tell is tomorrow! Since the last Friday was a little confusing with show and tell, any child may bring in something he/she is thankful for tomorrow!
Thanks,
Miss Brown
On Tuesday, November 22nd, students will be having a Feast with the other kindergarten classes. I had sign up sheet out at conferences and just wanted to send a reminder to those of you wh0 signed up and also ask if anyone would be willing to send in two big packages of pre-popped popcorn. (If you could send things to school by Friday that would be wonderful!)
Please send me an email if you are willing to send in the popcorn! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week already!
Have a great week!
Miss Brown
